karachidigestAsma Hasan has launched her flagship store at Zamzama, Karachi. The event took place on Friday evening, April 1, was a simple affair. Humaa Taher, the stylist was one of the few celebrities spotted at the event. Sharing her thoughts about the collection, Taher said: “I love the way she designs outfits.”

One avid customer, Fauzia Tariq, who said: “I just love Asma Hasan’s cut and style. It’s perfect. Her collection is very classy. I have often shopped from her exhibitions, but now with the opening of the outlet here in Karachi, it will be much easier to buy the stuff from here.”

Hasan is a Karachi-based designer, who has been in the fashion business for the past four-and-a-half-years. Her collection features formal dresses for eastern brides, as well as western tunics for girls. She creates a chic fusion of East and West in her designs.

Most of the outfits exhibited had earthy tones like beige, oyster and off-white, contrasted with bright colours like green, purple and yellow.

With prices starting from Rs4,500. According to Hasan, the major reason to launch a shop was “to reach a wider client base.” The designer has earlier exhibited her work in London, Dubai, Canada and Lahore, apart from Karachi.

Hasan follows a design philosophy, which according to her, is all about “style and glamour with a twist.” Talking about the target market, she said: “It’s for women who are brave enough to experiment. For those who have a flair for fashion.”

Though, she hasn’t been a part of any of the fashion weeks as yet, she pines the hope of participating in them. “I plan to participate in the fashion week when the time is right,” she said.

Apart from the launch of her boutique, Hasan is also working on a more casual cotton line. “I’m working on a fashion show collection and (planning to) launch cotton line for the summer season,” she told The Express Tribune. Hasan’s upcoming cotton line will be launched nationwide with the hope of taking the collection worldwide.
