Herbal products skin care are becoming increasingly popular, but the herbs have different properties. Unless you know what these properties are, you could end up with preparations that cause dry skin dry and oily skin oilier. Herbal products are always a good idea if you are a fan of natural skin care, but to know what are the best before buying.
Here are the basics you need to know: Dry skin needs herb with emollient properties. Emollients soften and soothe the skin, and help replace some of the natural skin oils. Oily skin needs astringent to tighten skin, tighten pores and help heal the spots that are more prominent in this type of skin. As spots can become infected is also a good idea to combine herbs with astringent with antiseptic properties. Normal skin herbs need neutral – which have neither nor astringent emollient.
Some of the most common emollient herbs comfrey, purple, elder flowers, Irish moss and marshmallow. Astringent herbs include calendula, calendula and witch hazel. Fortunately, each of these herbs are also astringent antiseptic and healing properties, so they are doubly good for oily skin. For people with dry skin stained, add a little thyme.
A word of warning about the great – make sure you have calendula. The other you may find is the french marigold – very toxic, herbicides and insecticides used to and definitely not suitable for natural skin care.
Normal skin responds best to thyme or yarrow. They have both cleansing and toning properties, but they are not astringent or emollient. They are very refreshing.
Although these herbs are available as extracts and a variety of natural preparations for the skin, you can simply at home. Soak herbs in hot water for about 30 minutes, keeping the heat during that time, but never allowing them to boil. After cooling, strain the herbs and pour the liquid into a bottle for use. Simply pat the preparation of the skin, leave for 10 to 30 minutes, rinse and dry.
Another great advantage of making your own skin care products is that you know exactly what’s in them. The products you purchase, but may contain beneficial herbs may also contain other ingredients that are corrosive or toxic, or may not be suitable for your skin type. Try adding these to your routine skin care natural for a week or two and you may be pleasantly surprised.
