Cleaning, moisturizing and exercises: how to care for your face

Take good care of your face to keep it healthy and to bring out your natural beauty that cosmetics can only enhance.

Women of all cultures are celebrated for a beautiful complexion and aesthetic facial features. Yet, most lovely faces benefit from daily care and cosmetic enhancement. Do you know how to make the most of your natural beauty? Here are some tips that can help:

1. Wash your face daily. Use a clean washcloth, warm water, and gentle soap morning and night. In circular motions wipe around the perimeter of your face, and then slowly pat around your eyes, nose, and mouth. Rinse the washcloth and remove soapy residue. Pat your face with cool water to close the pores. Wipe your face carefully with a towel to remove excess moisture.

2. Massage your face gently. After washing your hands, place them on your cheeks and make small, circular motions around the cheekbones, below, around your mouth, and over your forehead. The idea is to stimulate facial circulation to encourage the sloughing of dead skin cells and for hydration and nourishment of the face through venal nutrients. Your face will look and feel better afterward just don’t overdo it to prevent your face from getting irritated or dry.

3. Use clean makeup. Shop for a water-based foundation and quality cosmetic products. You don’t have to pay top price, but don’t look in the bargain basement, either. Use products with an SPF (sunscreen) of at least 15 and preferably 45 or higher. Don’t forget to use lip-gloss or balm to keep your lips from drying out and becoming chapped. Discard any unused makeup after six months to prevent the buildup of bacteria that can cause inflammation.

4. Apply night cream. As we age, the decrease of natural hormones can cause skin to dry out and form tiny lines or wrinkles. Use a night cream to hydrate and moisturize your face. By day, apply a lighter cream as a base for regular makeup. Some famous beauties recommend moisturizing several times a day, or whenever your skin feels or appears to be dry.

5. Drink eight glasses of water each day. Fresh, clear water can help your face stay moist and youthful, as well as keeping your body healthy and vigorous by flushing out toxins and promoting the circulation of oxygen and moisture throughout all organ systems. Drinking water can help to make your skin appear smoother and it will actually feel better. Avoid more than one alcoholic drink per day, and preferably not more than two cups of coffee daily.

6. Exercise often. Routine aerobic exercise of 30 minutes or more daily helps to rejuvenate the body, with benefits that go straight to your face. Clear skin that is free of blemishes, with a rosy color that displays good health, are the benefits of regular workouts. Besides, your body will discard extra water to eliminate bloating, and as your muscles tighten, your face will appear firmer.

7. Don’t smoke. Smoking causes fine lines and prevents the circulation of moisture and nutrients.
