Ek Aur Ek Gyarah

Director: David Dawan

Cast: Govinda, Sanjay Dutt, Jacki Shroff, Amrita Arora, Nandini Singh
Released by: Mukta Arts

This is the 16th film of Govinda with David Dawan. As anticipated it was supposed to be a comedy laughter but it didn’t turn out well. The co-star couple Govinda and Sanjay Dutt, who gave two good comedy movies with David Dawan’s direction before in ‘Haseena maan jayegi’ and ‘Jodi no.1’, has now starred in his third venture ‘Ek aur Ek gyarah’.

The movie was supposed to be a light comedy with Hindi-Punjabi dialogues. But eventually it turned out as a total unbearable disaster, which was very difficult to tolerate for 3 hours! One cannot expect such a movie without any storyline and weak direction from a director named David Dawan releasing under the banner of Subhash Ghai’s Mukta Arts.

Anyways the movie was based on two friends Tara (Govinda) and Sitara (Sanjay Dutt) who earn money by cheating on people. Their mother (Himani Shiypuri) also supports them in their achievements. While the police was after them, the two guys thought the safest place to live is the residence of a disciplined and tough officer (Jackie Shroff) who is among one of the Border Security Force (what a combination!).

The most of the movie revolves around those two crook friends trying to make place in the BSF officer’s heart and his family and stealing two glamorous girls, one of them was the sister of that officer while the other was her friend. They get caught when the officer comes to know that both of them have helped a fugitive criminal to help his criminal brother escape from the jail. They both then plead the officer to give them a chance and he does, and they both get the wanted criminal and his brother, arrested in a ridiculous climax .

Showing an important officer as stupid was the limit of comedy. There must be some solid storyline in order to make a good movie even based on comedy. The movie had no such theme on which can keep audience glued to their seats. Even the dialogues were not funny, which they were supposed to be. Overall it was a below average movie.
