Ki Jana Mein Kaun – an award-winning documentary film directed by Sharjil Baloch – was screened at the South Asian Media Center (SAMC) on Friday.
The documentary filmed in interior Sindh shows religious harmony and cultural affinity among Muslims and the Hindus. The director showed many such places in the documentary where the differences between Hinduism and Islam, without fading away, kept the two communities together without any hatred or bias.
He also showed various scenes of many such temples and shrines where the Hindus and the Muslims both pay homage without discriminating against each other.
The various devotees and caretakers of such shrines and temples are interviewed by the director, who say that humanity is above all religions and all the religions pray God, yet in different ways.
The documentary was showed at Katmandu Film Festival and won an award there but the award ceremony was organized on Friday.
Director Sharjil Baloch said that it took him one year to shoot this documentary. He said at many instants such things happened that moved him deeply and changed his perceptions.
He said six years ago when he made the documentary, he was funded by Actionaid Pakistan. He was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 3,000 US dollars along with a shield which was presented to him by film actress Zara Sheikh.
