Leanne Shaw, make-up artist for Frontcover Cosmetics says: “For the perfect red lips create a smooth base by gently exfoliating your lips and applying a moisturising lip balm. Skin care is the best foundation for any make-up.
“Sweep a touch of foundation across your lips before you apply your lipstick. Next gently smile with your mouth closed to help smooth out the skin surface, then apply a lip liner in a similar shade to the color you are wearing.”
The perfect shade
Leanne Shaw from Frontcover Cosmetics says the key to the perfect red lip is to select the right shade.
“If you think you can’t pull off red lipstick think again, you just need the right shade for your skin tone. If you have pale skin use tones such as scarlet red or rose shades.”
“For a medium complexion stick to brighter shades like orange reds and ruby reds. For darker skin tones stronger shades like burgundy and cranberry will work best.”
The perfect liner
No matter how good your lipstick, there’s always a chance it might start running away -outside of your lipline and that’s never good. International make-up artist Kay Montano, says: “The myface high def lip pencil is my secret weapon to the perfect pout.
“Apply the red lip pencil on the outer edge of your natural lip line for a perfect pout, you can even cheat it out a fraction to give the illusion of a fuller mouth. To make colour last longer, fill in the rest of the mouth with lip pencil before applying your lipstick on top.”
