Second Fashion Pakistan Week 2010 wraps up

The finale of the ‘Fashion Pakistan Week 2’ reached unprecedented heights on Friday with Maheen Khan thanking everybody for their energetic support. She said this platform would promote the Pakistani fashion industry and “get recognition for Pakistan in the international market”.

Around 10 designers presented their myriad creations, with Faiza Samee opening the show with her Summer/Autumn 2010 collection glittering with a diversity of fabrics, styles, cuts and palates. Young and fresh, the collection is deeply rooted in tradition as well as irrepressible modernity.

Following her was Ahmad Bilal with vibrant hues on white, a compelling fusion of East and West in chiffon and silk and attractive accessories all in the name of ‘Peace and Love’. Zarmina Khan also dazzled the spectators with her creations titled ‘Glittering Ethnics’ with chickenkari blending it with silks and jamawar, and made to perfection into pishwazes, long skirts, lehengas and shararas.

The creativity of all designers who presented their work was well appreciated and the crowd gave a standing ovation to Rizwanullah for his overwhelming presentation of ‘Depression Chic’. Ayesha Tammy Haq informed the crowd that most of the designers have already sold their creations.

“Nobody can say Pakistan is not on the map in the international fashion industry. It is there, and it is there to stay,” she said.
