For those who do not know, since October 2010 I have lost over 4 stone. Many people have asked how I have done this, and the simple answer is that I have just started to build exercise into my average day.
If you work in an office, you must get tired of sitting at your desk all day. During your breaks, instead of sitting with a cup of tea and a biscuit, why not go for a walk around the block instead? Or at least for a trip to another part of the building just to give your legs a bit of exercise before you have to sit at your desk again.
I will give you an example of how I am building exercise into my life. At the moment, I work from home, which means that I spend a lot of time at a desk and don’t even have my commute in which to exercise. One of the (many) things that I do online to earn money is sell things on eBay. In the past, I would go to the post office once a week (it’s a ten minute walk from my house, so the whole trip will take around half an hour). Now, I will go every time somebody buys one of my items, which is usually about once every day. This means that I get a whole extra half hour’s worth of exercise than I did in the past
In addition to this, I no longer use my car to take any trips that would have taken any shorter than thirty minutes on foot. This has saved me a lot of cash in fuel, and has also added a lot more exercise to my day.
It is changes such as these that you have to make to your life in order to make a real difference. Sure, a strict gym routine is alright and will get results, however it is much more difficult for you to keep to and won’t last as long as a general lifestyle change will.
