Organise Your Everyday Makeup

Organise Your Everyday MakeupEdit and Organise (15 minutes)

Create a comestic station with a jewellery box. Not only do they have compartments and drawers, they’re also pretty enough to keep n your sink top. Pick out your everyday makeup items – essentials like primer, concealer and foudnation, to favourite shades, brunshes and sponges. Arrange them in the order of usage into your jewellery box. And there you have it – everything you need at your fingertips.

Sort and Toss (10 minutes)

Every girl is guilty of hoarding makeup longer than they should. That is a big no-no. You’re really just breeding bacteria and mould that could give you nasty rashes, eye infections and the dreaded breakouts. Grit your teeth and start tossing out makeup items that have finished its life span. Nothing is worth the breakout.

As a guide, the maximum lifespans for makeup items are:

Mascara- 4-6 months

Eyeliner, concealer , foundation – 1 year

Lipstick – 8 months

Power eyeshadows or blush – 1-2 years

Salvage and Create ( 25 minutes)

Have makeup which is still good to use but almost used up? Don’t waste it. Scoop scraps of lipstick into little palettes you can get easily at beauty stores, and voila – a travel size of your favorite shades to bring along in your makeup pouch or to your next vacation. If you are feeling adventurous, you can try mixing shades or create lipgloss by melting bits of lipsticks with petroleum jelly. Try mixing eyeshadow powder with petroleum jelly if you like to wear the same shade on your eyes and lips. Or crushed your leftover eyeshadows and stored them in tiny jars, and use as highlighters or as powder pigment.
