Even before its release, the Aamir khan starrer ‘Ghajini’ has made history of sorts, recording the highest ever advance booking for any film in bollywood.
Turing out to be early cash Godzilla at the box office, Ghajini has zoomed ahead with a record – fifty percent advance booking, despite legal hiccups and its shre of controversies.
The advance booking, in terms of money generated, is four times more than any other film in celluloid history. ‘Ghajini’ has recorded an advance booking of fifty percent for the weekend across all multiplexes. It has set a new record in terms of number of paid previews on wednesday, recording 650 paid previews, which collected seven crores in a day.
With housefull weekends in many single screens, and near full theaters in multiplexes the film is expected to gross 35 crores in it’s first weekend.
‘Ghajini’ has beaten the last record of highest advance booking, which was held by Dhoom 2 that touched a 40 percent opening.
Even with a mammoth 1100 prints released, ghajini will have to sustain its success to become a superhit. Aamir khans decision to release the film on december 25th, the same date as ‘Taare Zameen Par’ was released last year, might just work the year end magic he has been hoping for.
