Candy make up is trendy

Look sweet as sin this season. Think outside of the proverbial makeup box (er, vault if you live with a sticky fingered roommate). Why not get your inspiration from a colorful candy store like Dylan’s Candy Bar?

Makeup trends are taking their cues from all the heavenly, sinful treats you love to eat after dinner (or, if you’re like us, in between meals). Think sugary cotton candy lips, vanilla frosted lids, licorice lashes and Jelly Belly blues. These candy makeup looks are so hot they’ll make passersby melt faster than an ice cream cone on a summer sidewalk. Try on candy makeup in our virtual makeup studio.

On eyes, go for a yummy mint chocolate look, especially if you have deeply tanned or African American skin. Choose a soft, minty green and sweep it over the entire eyelid. Finish with licorice-black eyeliner in a liquid formula and highilght your browbone with a shimmery vanilla eye shadow. Blue eyes look fetching in classic marshmallow, Sour Patch lemon yellows and banana split- or Lemonhead-inspired golds. Brown- or black-eyed gals look striking in Jelly Belly blueberry hues.

For lips, mimic the colors of of a candy cane by topping a soft red lipstick with a shimmery, sugary-white gloss. Bonus points if you can find a lipstick flavored like peppermint. Or simply reach for a cotton candy pink lipstick to evoke sweet memories of the carnivals of you your youth.

Paint your lashes with a colored mascara or line your eyes with the same shades you see under the ice cream case at Stone Cold Creamey. You can easily turn your favorite powder eye shadows into uniquely candy colored eye liners by dipping a flat, smooth eyeliner brush in water before applying them to your lashline.
