Abdul, who is rightly proud of his newly created restaurant, describes the cuisine as authentic home cooking influenced by the region of North Pakistan. The comments from satisfied diners bears out Abdul’s hopes – phrases such as `excellent evening, fantastic food’ and `the food is amazing’ speak for themselves.

Now licensed, the restaurant offers an extensive wine list with tastes of red, white and rose wines from around the world to enjoy with a meal, and also beers, lagers, top brand spirits all served by the manager and licensee Azhar Mahmood.

Abdul, who converted the former shop in Bradford Road into a restaurant in about seven months, says one of his chefs hails from Karachi and has extensive experience of cooking in top five-star restaurants.

Specialties of Saim’s include grill starters such as lamb chops, fish tikka, king prawn and Behari kebab. Main courses include chef’s specialities such as Paya, Nehari, Tava Chicken Keema and Yakhnee Pilau (chicken or lamb) with Karahi dishes of mixed vegetables, mushrooms and fish masala. Popular main dishes include rogan josh, jalfrezi, korma, dopiaza, dhansak and makhani.

The restaurant is open every night from 5pm and a take-out service is always available. The restaurant can also be booked for special events such as parties, weddings etc – please ring 01484 539444. During the day the restaurant is available for business meetings etc and can accommodate outside catering.

Looking towards Christmas, Abdul says the restaurant will be open throughout the festive period and New Year. Some seasonal specials will be available on the menu.

Because of the popularity of Saim’s, it is advisable to book a table. As Abdul himself says: “Excellence at Saim’s is standard, not a goal”.
