On August 16th, Youth Outreach Developments in Literacy (YOUR DIL) will present “Rock the Tabla,” a benefit concert extravaganza at the exclusive Mansion club, at 530 W. 28th St in New York City.
Featuring: Zerobridge, Shobha, The Tabla Guy (Gurpreet Chana), and Jungli LIVE IN CONCERT!

Zerobridge: http://www.myspace.com/zerobridge Lead singer/guitarist and songwriter, Din, and drummer, Mo, are two brothers, whose parents are from the disputed territory of Kashmir, nestled between northern India and Pakistan. Greg “The Quota,” seasoned NYC bass player, rounds out the trio who have been playing their own unique brand of melodic, guitar driven rock n’ roll for the last three years. With two independent releases behind them, Zerobridge released their latest EP in 2007.
Shobha: http://www.myspace.com/shobhamusic Shobha’s music is a sophisticated and passionate mix of pop, R&B, soul and Jamaican grooves, displaying a range that branches out far beyond her East Indian roots. She won the Canadian Radio Star’s national singer/songwriter of the year during 2008 and released her new album this July.
The Tabla Guy (Gurpreet Chana): http://www.thetablaguy.com/ Gurpreet has been mesmerizing crowds with tabla fusion in genres ranging from hip–hop, soul, house, jazz, orchestral, and flamenco. He has recorded with Grammy award winning artists Nelly Furtado and Wyclef Jean and performed live with artists including Kiran Ahluwalia, The Bombay Dub Orchestra, Rosina Kazi LAL, Jennie Laws, Drew Rouse, Jorane, and opened for Lady Sovereign, Pete Rock, and DJ Rekha.
Jungli: http://www.myspace.com/jungli The South Asian, East African, Canadian Born, Oklahoma, raised Jungli girl, calls the streets of Brooklyn, New York City home. She has been performing music since 2003. Since then she has rapped at Carnegie Hall, made her milkshake bring all the boys to the yard on the SNL soundstage, brought Miami’s Art Basel to their knees. In 2007 she released her album That [GIRL].
“Rock the Tabla” will be a fusion of musical genres that will bring together a constellation of some of the brightest rock, R&B, and pop stars in the South Asian American and Canadian music scenes.
