The Sleek Braid Hairstyle

Pantene Hairstylists help you achieve a braided hairstyle that’s right for long hair

What You’ll Need:

  • Wide-tooth comb,
  • large round brush,
  • blow-dryer,
  • rubber bands (2),
  • bow (optional).

Steps to Achieve Style Prep:
Step 1: Wash and condition hair.

Step 2: Towel-dry hair until damp and scrunch with a towel to help prevent damage and split ends. Style

Step 3: Fill your left palm with styling mousse. With your right hand, use a wide-tooth comb to work the mousse into your hair, starting at the roots all the way to the tips.

Step 4: Blow-dry hair completely using a large round brush to keep hair tangle-free. Once hair is dry, place a nickel-sized drop of anti-frizz crème on the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together, and then work the anti-frizz crème from the length of your hair to the tips, avoiding the roots of your hair.

Step 5: Gather hair at the nape of the neck and secure the ponytail with a rubber band. Then, split the ponytail into two sections, a top and bottom. Disregard the bottom section for a moment—this will be where you add hair strands from to fatten your braid.

Step 6: Split the top section into two pieces, a right and left. Take 10 strands of hair from the bottom section and cross from right to left, adding the 10 strands to the left section. Then, take 10 strands of hair from the bottom section and cross from left to right, adding the 10 strands to the right section. Continue alternating left- and right-hand additions, until all hair from the bottom pile has been incorporated into the left and right sections.

Step 7: Secure at the tips with a rubber band and then a bow on top, for pizzazz. Remove the rubber band at the nape of the neck, careful to not disturb the braid.

Step 8:
