Lahori Chicken Chargha Recipe


  • Chicken 1
  • Yogurt 1 cup
  • Lemons 3
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Crushed black pepper 1 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Charga Masala 3 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • For rice:
  • Rice 2- 2 ½ cup
  • Oil 1 cup
  • Fresh Milk 1 cup
  • Onions (chopped) 3
  • Green chillies 4
  • All spices as required
  • Yellow food colour as required
  • Mint leaves ½ bunch
  • Salt to taste


  1. Put cuts on chicken and wash it. Add 1 tbsp red chilli flakes, 1 tsp crushed black pepper, 1 tsp roasted and crushed cumin seeds, salt and lemon juice in 1 cup yogurt.
  2. Marinated chicken in that mixture. Put the marinated chicken in it and steam it. Take 1 cup oil in the pan and add in 3 chopped onion fry till they are golden brown.
  3. Take out the fried onion and keep it aside. Put the steamed chicken in the oil and cook it. boil the ice along with salt, ½ bunch mint leaves, 4 green chillies and all spice . Once boiled drained the water.
  4. Now grease the pan from the bottom, first layer the rice and them put the cooked chicken on it. put fried onion, chopped mint leaves on it and then again layer the rice on it. Add in lemon juice and simmer.
  5. Now first dish out the rice and take out the chicken then take out the rest of the rice in the dish. Put the chicken on the top and garnish it with fried onion and serve it with raita.
