There was the expected high drama on the ramp when the curtains came down Pantene Bridal Couture Week 2013 Day 3. With the good, the bad and the ugly, the show kept us hooked till the very end. Here’s the lowdown:
The opening pieces of this designer’s collection showcased bridals themed on a pastel palette. With soft hues like beige, baby pink, light blue and white, Sana Abbas’s collection was designed for a graceful bride. The dresses with paisley motifs had a touch of regality and looked majestic on the ramp.
When will this eyesore of a mystery be solved? The designer failed to impress on every levels. With the right recipe for a ramp disaster in hand, Mistry showcased net chooridars, glittery mermaid-inspired lehengas and off-shoulder cholis full of coin-sized sequins. While we laud her for producing well-stitched albeit complicated pieces, we seriously wonder who will ever wear them.
Pantene Bridal Couture Week (PBCW) Day 2 was no less entertaining than the night before. The trend-setters of the fashion world have learned how to enthrall audience, if not with their collections, than at least with practiced performances. Yasmin Zaman Her bridal collection was more fantasy wear since no bride … Read more

The finale of Fashion Pakistan Week (FPW) 5 on 10th April outstripped Day 1 on every level; not only did Day 2 have a more promising line-up, with Shamaeel, SanaSafinaz, Deepak Perwani and Sania Maskatiya showing, some of the remaining 11 (yes, there were THAT many) designers’ presentations displayed creativity and finesse.
The prize for the show that bowled us over must be given to Shamaeel. With her collection titled Extra-Orient, Shamaeel transported us into a world of powerful lady shoguns exuding femininity and sex appeal.
A crowd scan at any high-society chai party will show you just how popular Sania’s printed silk kurtas are. Playing on this strength, Sania’s Naqash collection at FPW5 was a saga of digital prints on silk and crepe.
Day One of the two-day Fashion Pakistan Week (FPW) 5 on Tuesday evening seemed to drag on for longer than the actual four hours, owing largely to unexciting collections. Besides the arrival of Labels’ shop-the-runway online, there were no international buyers present at the show, which meant that the designs … Read more

Fashion Pakistan Council has announced dates for Fashion Pakistan Week 5 aka FPW5. The event will now be a two day extravaganza, scheduled to take place on the 9th and 10thof April 2013 in Karachi.
It is a bit odd to name the event week when it is just for two days but quality is what matters not quantity. Hope to see some great stuff from participating designers on the ramp. For the first time, there will be Lawn collections on the ramp too (though I have my reservations on it but it shows the power of Lawn)
13 designers will showcase on each day of the event unlike 6-8 in earlier editions of FPW. Assume to allocate half an hour to every collection & the show will be of 6+ hours. Lets see how the decision to shorten the time period of the event and extending the designer lineup turns out.
Fashion Pakistan is collaborating for the first time with 360 labels e store, collections will be uploaded in two hours of launch.
