Noor, Sahiba, Sana, Meera, and Mathira gave ode to Lahore’s glorious film history and Humaima, Amina Sheikh and Atif Aslam paid rich tributes to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
Lahore July 4, 2013: Pakistan celebrated its most prestigious and glamorous Awards show by honoring style and entertainment at the 12th LUX Style Awards, held at the Expo Center, Lahore on 4th July 2013 and saw some of the most exciting performances and tributes on stage. This is the first time that the show has come to Lahore since its inception in 2002 and the city’s entertainment industry was very excited. The glamorous event started with the Warid Red Carpet where guests were welcomed by the stunning Amna Kardar and all our stars were shinning on the Warid Red Carpet with flashes, pictures and interviews.
The 12th LUX Style Awards are to celebrate and honor Pakistan the best in Music, TV, Film and Fashion. Famous Pakistani actor, hip hop rapper and rock music keyboardist, Ahmed Ali Butt, who rocked the LUX Style Awards as a host last year, made a triumphant return to the stage in 2013. Ahmed Ali Butt, best known for his awesome sense of humor, stole the show at the 11th Lux Style Awards last year with his hilarious jokes. He also did a tremendous re-enactment of Akon’s ‘Smack That’. This year Ahmed surprised the audience with “Aaj ki sham LUX k naam” and the beautiful rendition of youtube sensation “Eye to Eye”.
The second segment of the night, were the terrestrial awards followed by Ahmed who talks about Humaima (Lux Brand Ambassador & Samsung Mobiles Pakistan Brand Ambassador) and introduces her as the co-host of the evening. The energetic and enigmatic Humaima was also a part of Lux style awards 2012, where she rocked the stage with her amazing dance performance with Ali Zafar. This year the Lux girl was chosen to co-host the show with Ahmed and make the glam night more memorable.
The second act of the evening was performed by the beauty queen of Lollywood, the Meera ji, who performed on the famous song, ‘Aaj Mera Nachay Ge.’
After the act Ahmed Butt was back on the stage dressed as Maula Jutt and calls upon Noori Jutt (Mustafa Qureshi) on stage to announce the Lollywood performances by the sizzling beauties of Lollywood including, Noor, Sana, Meera, Mathira and Sabiha. All the five Divas had their own songs to perform on, Mathira will be grooving on ‘Akh Lerhi Badu Badi’ Sana on ‘Tu Jay Meray Humaesha Kol Rahwain’ Sahiba dances on ‘Teray Naal Naal Way Main Rehna’ while Noor performs on ‘Jey Main Hondi Dhulan, Soney De Taveetni’ and all these five ladies perform on the finale song, ‘Luddi Hay Jamaloo Paoo’ which ends the second segment.
The third segment started with an obituary documentary highlighting the kingpins of our music industry Lehri, Mehdi Hassan, Asia, Mehnaz and Master Manzoor. Entertainment is very important in LUX Style Awards and no one knows it better than Ahmed Ali Butt who called Mathira on the stage and both indulged with the audiences for dance antakshari. After the announcement of Best music album of the year, the singing sensation Naheed Akhter was called upon the stage to present the Music Youth Icon award to Atif Aslam. Soon after Faizan called Yousuf Salahuddin on stage to announce and give tribute of the Life Time Achievement award to the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. A short documentary on the life and career of Nusrat F. Ali Khan was also shown.
The new LUX girls chosen to showcase their skills at Pakistan’s most coveted awards show are, the gorgeous and stunning beauty of Pakistan Film Industry Humaima Malik and the glamazon of Pakistani TV and Fashion, Aamina Sheikh. Humaima performs on ‘Afreen Afreen’ and solo on the song ‘Dholna’ while Amina Sheikh on ‘Ajja Mahi’ Techno song. Atif Aslam paid homage to the Qawali King Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan by singing his evergreen song ‘Jinnay Rub Nu Manana.’
The fourth segment of the evening was the Fashion Awards where Ahmed was accompanied by the glamorous ZQ as a co-host, the Best Dressed on Warid Red Carpet Male and Female was awarded by Muneer Farouqi (CEO of Warid Telecom) to Ali Xeeshan and Aamina Sheikh. Emerging Talents are the future of our Pakistani industries Arif Lohar and Sanam Marvi took over the stage and announced the performances. There were three performances, first was the singer Faris featuring Mooro on the song ‘Awam’ second was Naseer and Shahab with the song ‘Ya Paktoon Yum’. This performance had no dance in it just graphics were present in the background. And last one in the category was Sibti performing on ‘Peshawar Ki Larki’.
Achievements in High-street Fashion category was awarded by Magnum’s Brand Ambassador Ayyan whereas Fashion Design-Luxury Pret was awarded by Mr & Mrs Ruby Zahid (Directors Damas).
Best TV Actress of the Year was presented by Mr. Fakhar Ahmed (Regional Manager Corporate, Bank Alfalah).
This year the award office chose Mrs. Sehyr Saigol for the lifetime achievement award to honor her contributions in the field of Fashion. A short documentary was shown where her accomplishments were highlighted.
The most sizzling performances of the glam night were still to come. The 12th Annual Lux Style awards became more rocking and entertaining, when Atif Aslam performed. Internationally acclaimed Pakistani pop singer Atif Aslam appeared on the LSA stage after a hiatus of five years. The singer has recently sung many hits for Bollywood, ‘Tera Honay Laga Hoon,’ ‘Pehli Nazar’ and most recently ‘Be Inteha.’ He performed on ‘Be Inteha’ with Sama Shah ‘Halla Duhai Hai’. ‘Insha Jee Utho’ which was his solo performance and special performance with the SOS village children on his super hit song “Allah Duhai Dy”. Whereas the finale was with the stunning Lux girls Amina and Humaima on ‘Tera Honay Laga Hoon’ and ‘Dil Na Janay Kyun’ the mashup.
After successfully launching Samsung Galaxy S4 in Pakistan, Samsung Pakistan stepped into the fashion industry by sponsoring the most glamorous event of Pakistan. As a technology partner of the 12th Lux Style Awards, winners of the prestigious awards were also presented with the most talked about cell phone, Samsug Galaxy S4.
The night came to rousing end with Atif Aslam’s rocking performance, the winners took home their elegant silver trophies and the 12th Lux Style Awards were finally done and dusted.
