Javed Sheikh will play a Pakistani intelligence agent collaborating with Indian forces to eliminate a gang of international terrorists in his next Bollywood movie, ‘Das’.
The actor-turned director has been active in Bollywood for the last year and a half. ‘Das’ will be his second Indian movie after ‘Sitam’. He will star alongside Sunil Shetty, Abishek Bachan, Shilpa Shetty, Gulshan Grover, Esha Deol and Sanjay Dutt.
He was scheduled to leave for Canada on Tuesday to start shooting for ‘Das’. Anu Bhavsinah, known for his film ‘Tum Bin’, is directing the film. The producers of the film are Nitin Manmohan and Sohail Maklai, who have produced famous films such as ‘Bhoot’ and ‘Jungle’.
Talking to Daily Times, Mr Sheikh criticised the Pakistani film industry, saying it did not have any roles to offer him and lacked quality and professionalism. He said he was an ardent fan of Indian cinema and is set to sign another Indian film directed by John Mathew of ‘Sarfrosh’ fame.
Mr Sheikh has recently returned from Mumbai where he recorded music for his upcoming film ‘Khulay asman kay neechay’. The music was recorded at at the Empire Studio and Yougesh Parathan did the arrangements. The work cost over Rs 5 million. It includes songs by Elka Yaknink, Sonu Nigam, Kumar Sanu, Sadhna Sargam, Udit Narayan, and Sukhwinder. He said he had to go across the border to record the soundtrack for his movie because no facilities existed in Pakistan for film music of an international standard.
